Salmon Fishing

I have lived a very fortunate life, in terms of family, business, health and the ability to spend time on salmon rivers. Over the past 45 years I have logged thousands of hours on dozens of rivers throughout Atlantic Canada and Quebec. I have also met some of the most talented guides and visited many of the finest lodges. I tell you this because, all too often, I run into anglers that are heading on a trip for which they are ill-prepared, or even worse, I run into them when they are on their way home from an unsuccessful and often very costly experience.

If you have a question that you think I may be able to help you with, please let me know and I will see what I can do.  The worst-case scenario will have us talking a bit about salmon fishing and that in itself is time well spent.

Salmon Flies

Fly tying has been a part of my life from a very early age. I still enjoy tying today and, more than the act of tying, I love to hear stories from anglers who have had success with flies that I have tied. Over the years I have met, tied with, and taught, a number of very talented fly tyers, who have now joined forces to offer you a line of superb salmon flies. If the pattern that you are looking for is not offered as a standard pattern, we will also look at doing custom work. We also believe in the value of supporting your local fly shop, so if you live in an area where you can purchase the flies that you want, please buy them locally.

Hawke River Outfitters

Hawke River is a special place, located in a remote area of Labrador. It provides the angler a unique experience, both in terms of the quality of the angling and the ability to spend time in true wilderness.

Flowers River Lodge

The Flowers is an ideal fishery for new anglers who don't have a lot of wading experience, or for elderly fishermen who may not be quite as steady on their feet as they once were, but still love to wade.

My Giant Atlantic Salmon Story

Thirty years ago, I was fortunate enough to catch and release one of the largest Atlantic Salmon of all time. Thought you might like to hear the story and see some pics. Enjoy!
